　　自主学习是学习的一种新境界,对其定义，文献中有不同的描述。Holec(1985)认为，自主学习是学习者管理自己学习的能力，其中包括确立学习目标、自我监控和自我评价等；Huttenen(1986)认为，自主学习是学习者对自己学习负责的意愿和能力；Little(1990)将自主学习看作是学习者对学习内容和过程的心理反应。在自主学习中，态度和能力是核心，是决定自主学习的关键因素。Dickinson(1993)列举了自主学习者的基本特点：能够理解教学目的和教学方法；能够确立自己的学习目标；能够选择合适的学习策略；能够监控自己的学习策略；能够评价自己的学习结果[2]。概括地说，就是“想学”、“能学”、“会学”、“善学”、“坚持学”。

　　二、自主学习能力的培养策略

　　自主学习能力的培养要贯穿于英语学习的全过程。应依据相应级别的课程教学目标，结合学生的认知水平，灵活地、创造性地使用教材，要突出学生的主体性原则、和谐的师生关系原则、活动性原则、多样性原则，科学性评价原则，多层次、多途径地培养和发展学生的自主学习能力。

　　（一）、联系实际，激发自主学习的内在动机

　　动机是学习的内在驱力。在很多情况下学生学习动机不足，对自身能力怀疑，产生厌学、畏学的心理。要紧密联系当今世界科技发展、经济全球化、信息化的新形势及我国加入WTO的新特点，对学生进行学习目的性教育；要联系名人刻苦自学外语成才的感人事迹进行学习态度教育；要联系学生的生活实际，让他们在学习语言中感受英语的有趣、有意和有用。例如，教数字时，请学生收集自己身边的数字，学生发言热烈，列举了家里的电话号码、火警号码、父母的身高、自己鞋子的尺码等，一节枯燥的数字课就能上得热闹非凡，笑声不断。又如在教“No Smoking”后，让学生收集常见的英语标志或符号，不但认识到英语的重要性，还激发了他们的学习兴趣。要根据学生实际情况，设计不同的任务要求，尽可能地为每位学生提供表现自己的机会，让他们体验到成功感，形成了自主学习的强烈欲望和动机。

　　（二）、引导探索，掌握自主学习的基本方法

　　教育不只是教给学生知识，更重要的是引导他们在探索中掌握学习语言知识的基本方法，为今后的自主学习打下坚实的基础。

　　1、语音拼读。培养学生的拼读能力是培养其英语自学能力的立足点。针对不少学生记不住单词的发音与拼写的烦恼，要抓好拼读入门关，引导学生在学习中对英汉、英英的音素进行适当的比较，注意字母与音素、字母与音标之间的联系，发展学生观察、发现、联系、对比、总结、归纳的认知学习和迁移学习能力。如：英汉相似的音的比较：y—［i：］、r—［r］、w—［w］、h—［h］、g—［g］等；英英相混的音的比较：［i：］—［i］、［s］—［θ］、［v］—［w］等；字母与音标之间的联系： p—［p］、f—［f］、h—［h］等，逐步掌握字母或字母组合在单词中的读音规则，把符合相同读音规则的单词组合在一起，让学生集中学习，以自行拼读为主，老师纠音为辅，培养学生以拼读为基础的语言自学能力。

　　强化思维训练是培养学生自主学习能力的关键。教师要善于在英语听、说、读、写教学中,训练学生学会发散思维、聚合思维、求异思维、猜测思维、直觉思维等。要营造民主的教学氛围，鼓励学生大胆质疑问难，启发学生运用旧知来探索新知。要紧密联系教学实际，设计能引发学生兴趣的探究性问题，让学生主动探究、搜集资料、上网查阅，培养他们获取信息、处理信息的能力。要努力创设良好的语言情景和语用情景，促进学生创新思维的发展。如在阅读和写作课上，可让学生扩写课文、续写文章结尾、补写故事情节、看图作文、重编童话寓言等，为学生创设一个思维想象驰骋的广阔空间。又如教SEFC BookⅡ Unit12后，进行以“Is the zoo good or bad?为题的正反两方辩论，在激烈的争辩中，双方各自搜肠刮肚地提出各式各样的自圆其说的理由，正方认为 “动物园是人类的宝贵资源”、“对于频临灭绝的稀有动物起保护作用”、“为旅游业增加可观收入”等；反方则认为“动物园内的猕猴等身上有SARS病毒原会传播给人类”、“园内动物缺乏大自然的生态环境不利于繁衍”、“浪费大量的粮食、禽肉”等。在思维的碰撞交锋中，挖掘了新奇的思路，迸发出创新的火花。

　　（四）、关注差异，促进自主学习的个性发展

　　自主学习是学生个性发展的必然选择。要高度关注学生的个体差异，因材施教，帮助每个学生优化自己的学习过程，让他们的学习更加自主和有效，促进学生有特色地发展。

　　1、关注情感，鼓励自主。积极的情感，能够促进人的身心的发展。要融洽师生间的关系，营造一个民主和谐的氛围，提倡宽容。同时贯彻以表扬为主的教育思想。如不时使用Good, Wonderful, Excellent, OK , Very good等鼓励性评价用语，让学生“敢学”、“敢说”，自主学习的信心得以树立，自主性这一人格特征得以培养。

　　2、合作讨论，学会自主。要积极倡导合作学习，针对学生心理和学习上的差异，把全班分成若干小组，好、中、差搭配，进行合作学习。小组中的每个人发挥各自的长处，你一言、我一语，你猜一点、我发现一点地相互启迪，取长补短，每个学生的个性潜能得到了不同程度的发展，实现自主学习。

　　3、科学评价，促进自主。要制定促进学生个性发展的评价指标体系，建立个人学习档案袋，让学生积极参与评价活动，使评价成为学生自己的事。可采用自评、小组评、互评、教师评、家长评的方法促进自主学习能力的发展。

　　（五）、精心设计，拓展自主学习的实践空间

　　要精心设计形式多样的实践活动，让学生有时间、有机会去选择、决定，去思考、体验、感悟，去创造、应用。要注重课内和课外的有机结合，根据学生的程度，有意识地给学生布置一些课外任务，训练学生独自计划、实施和完成一项语言任务，如准备值日生汇报、编对话、讲故事、制作名卡和地址薄、给好朋友或老师打一个英文电话、学唱一首英文歌曲、讲一则英文幽默故事、自制圣诞和新年贺卡、编英文报、写配图短文、设计英文晚会（如圣诞Party）、收集自己所崇拜名人的个人信息档案、给外国学生写信、参加英语讲座、英语角、英语竞赛等。要有计划地指导学生进行课外阅读，要求学生自主阅读量大约为课内阅读量的两倍以上，培养学生的自学能力。要进一步建设和完善多媒体网络教学系统，使学生可以通过多媒体或校园网，随时随地进行符合个人需求的自主学习，并有可能通过网络平台进行师生间、同学间的交流和提问答疑，培养综合语言运用的能力。实践证明，让学生独立地完成力所能及的学习任务和活动是培养自主学习能力的有效途径。

　　（六）、多管齐下，形成自主学习的有效策略

　　教师要多方面地加强学习策略的指导，帮助学生形成适合自己的有效学习策略。如：设计调查问卷，呈现必须掌握的一系列学习策略，供学生了解、选用；指导学生制订具体、详细的计划，确定与学习目标有关的具体活动和时间安排；引导学生通过写日记或其他记录方式，记下自己学习的过程、方法、体会，对学习进行自我评价和自我监控，调整下一阶段的学习方法和策略；通过座谈和讨论，让学生交流学习方法和心得，随时了解每个学生对学习策略的实施情况，及时进行个别指导；要求学生留心自己的英语错误，并备有专门记录和纠正错误的复习本；遇到困难是如何获取帮助；做练习注意研究各类常考题型的解题思路和技巧，学习和掌握应考策略和方法；学会创造和把握运用英语的机会；善于借助身势语言手段提高交际效果；懂得利用网络资源进行学习等。

　　学生自主学习能力的培养是个复杂的系统工程，它涉及到中外多种语言学习理论，需要同行们从理论和实践上不断探索。
